Ola Electric Unveils New Scooter, Cuts Prices Of S1 Pro Plus, Roadster X Plus

At Ola Electric’s flagship annual event Sankalp, founder and chairman Bhavish Aggarwal today (August 15) made a slew of new announcements. 

While addressing the gathering at Ola Gigafactory in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri, Aggarwal unveiled the electric vehicle (EV) maker’s new S1 Pro Sport model, priced at nearly INR 1.5 Lakh. 

The new electric scooter features Ola Electric’s in-house 13 kW Feriite motor that delivers a peak power of 16 kW and 71 Nm of torque. Its deliveries will start in January 2026.  

In a statement, Ola Electric said that the new motor, designed and developed in-house, will reduce the company’s dependence on importing rare earth elements. 

On the battery front, the S1 Pro Sport boasts a 5.2 kWh pack with the indigenously developed 4680 battery cell. As per the company, the new escooter has a top speed of 152 kmph and an Indian driving cycle (IDC) range of 320 km. 

Not stopping there, Aggarwal announced the integration of Ola Electric’s in-house 4680 battery cell into two of its key models – S1 Pro Plus electric scooter and Roadster X Plus motorcycle. The deliveries of the vehicles, fitted with new cells, will begin post Navratri (October 2), Aggarwal added. 

This follows the operationalisation of Ola Electric’s 110-acre Ola Gigafactory, which has kicked off with an initial capacity of 5 GWh and is slated to be scaled up to 100 GWh in phases. The EV maker previously delayed plans to integrate its homegrown battery cells over the need to stabilise new vehicle platforms and improve manufacturing efficiency.

Meanwhile, he also announced a price cut for the two aforementioned models. The retail price of the S1 Pro Plus has dropped to INR 1.7 Lakh from INR 2 Lakh, while the Roadster X Plus now costs INR 1.9 Lakh, down from INR 2.24 Lakh.

The event also saw Ola Electric teasing its upcoming motorcycle, DiamondHead. The new ebike will feature its “advanced” battery cell technology and Silicon, an AI chip developed by Krutrim. Aggarwal said that the premium electric motorcycle will likely be rolled out for delivery by 2027 and will have a price tag of INR 5 Lakh. 

“At Ola Electric, we have been on a journey to build the future of energy and mobility in India. This year’s Sankalp, and our vision of India Inside, is accelerating this mission by commercialising 4680 Bharat Cell and rare-earth-free motors later this year… We are expanding our product portfolio with the S1 Pro Sport and the S1 Pro+ & Roadster X+ with our own cells,” Aggarwal said.

The announcements come at a time when the EV maker has been trying to get its house in order. Ola Electric’s auto business turned EBITDA positive in June. Alongside, the company has been rejigging its distribution model and focussing more on after-sales service and product quality.

Nevertheless, Ola Electric’s consolidated net loss widened 23% to INR 428 Cr in Q1 FY26 from INR 347 Cr in the year-ago period. Consolidated revenue from operations also tanked nearly 50% to INR 828 Cr in the quarter under review from INR 1,644 Cr in Q1 FY25. 

Deliveries declined to 68,192 EVs in Q1 FY26 from 1.25 Lakh in the same quarter last year.
