SuperGaming Mops Up $15 Mn At $100 Mn Valuation: Report

SUMMARY

SuperGaming has raised $15 Mn in a funding round at nearly five times the valuation of its Series A funding round in 2021

The fresh funds have been raised at an enterprise valuation of about $100 Mn

SuperGaming secured funding from Bandai Namco Entertainment via its 021 Fund, earlier this year

Pune-based gaming studio SuperGaming has raised $15 Mn (around INR 131 Cr) in a Series B funding round at nearly five times the valuation of its Series A funding round in 2021.

The fresh funds have been raised at an enterprise valuation of about $100 Mn. The startup raised $5 Mn (INR 43 Cr) at a valuation of $21 Mn (around INR 184 Cr) in 2021, as per PTI.

The fresh funding round was co-led by Skycatcher and Steadview Capital, with participation from global strategic investors such as a16z Speedrun, Bandai Namco 021 Fund, Neowiz and Web3 Investors, including Polygon Ventures.

The round also saw participation from Sandeep Nailwal, Decentralised.co, 4th Revolution Capital, 32-Bit Ventures, Ryze Labs, Ed3n Ventures, Visceral Capital and existing investors like AET Japan and BACE Capital.

The startup will deploy fresh funds in expanding its game Indus Battle Royale into international markets, beginning with Latin America.

“The fund will also be used to scale the company’s game development capabilities and invest in top-tier talent, while continuing to create new original IPs and deepen its publisher partnerships,” SuperGaming said in a statement.

Founded in 2017 by John, Navneet Waraich, Sanket Nadhani, Christelle D’cruz and Sreejit J, SuperGaming is building mobile games such as MaskGun, Silly Royale, and Tower Conquest. It has also built SuperPlatform, a cloud-based live-ops game development engine.

SuperPlatform provides a SaaS-based solution for game developers, allowing them to build and manage games seamlessly while integrating with popular game engines like Unity and Unreal Engine, the statement said.

A chunk of the capital will be deployed to fuel SuperPlatform’s global expansion, targeting game developers and publishers in emerging markets who lack resources to build comparable proprietary backend technology, the statement added.

“We are at an inflection point where India’s role in gaming evolves from a consumer market to a driving force in innovation, and this investment fuels that transition. ‘Indus Battle Royale’ is just our beginning,” said John.

In SuperGaming’s Series A funding round, it bagged funds from Skycatcher, AET Fund (venture arm of Akatsuki), BAce Capital, Dream Incubator, 1Up Ventures and Monish Darda.

Earlier this year, SuperGaming secured funding from Bandai Namco Entertainment via its 021 Fund.

“Bandai Namco doubling down on their investment is a strong vote of confidence in our mission and our team —to build world-class games and gaming infrastructure from India for India and the world. This renewed partnership validates our commitment to shaping the future of gaming, not just in India but on a global stage,” John said then.

In October last year, SuperGaming announced the launch of its made-in-India battle royale game, Indus for both Android and iOS platforms users. Indus has amassed more than 6 Mn downloads.

The gaming studio counts Akatsuki Entertainment Technology Fund, Skycatcher, BAce Capital, Dream Incubator and others among its investors.
