Andhra Pradesh is eyeing to lead advancements in Quantum Technology, securing a first-mover advantage in this transformative field

Only a few weeks ago, Andhra Pradesh’s EDB prepared a pitch to attract Elon Musk’s Tesla to set up its manufacturing facility in the state

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that the government is planning to create a quantum computing hub, Quantum Valley, in the state that is in line with the National Quantum Mission (NQM).

Taking to X, Naidu said, “Just as we led the information technology revolution in the 1990s, we want Andhra Pradesh to lead advancements in Quantum Technology, securing a first-mover advantage in this transformative field.”

The NQM, approved in 2023, was brought to strengthen the local research and development (R&D) ecosystem, at a total cost of INR 6,003.65 Cr. The Mission will encompass a period of eight years until the financial year 2030-31.

On that note, he further highlighted that the state will achieve the goal via collaborating with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-Madras), as well as tech giants such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and IBM.

The partnership is expected to lead Andhra to become a national hub for quantum computing research, while attracting top-tier talent and global investments.

This development comes at a time when the state has been taking efforts in forging partnerships with established companies to strengthen its capacity in EV manufacturing and AI adoption.

Only a few weeks ago, Andhra Pradesh’s Economic Development Board (EDB) prepared a pitch to attract Elon Musk’s Tesla to set up its manufacturing facility in the state, while also mulling to offer incentives, including ready land parcels.

Meanwhile, Naidu also launched ‘Telugu Angels’, to empower Telugu entrepreneurs in building and scaling their ventures globally, in January.

On the other hand, it is pertinent to note that various states have been taking new measures via partnerships and investments to become leading hubs across industries.

Last month, Karnataka’s IT and BT minister Priyank Kharge disclosed that the state is working towards becoming India’s leading esports hub on the back of growing traction.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the state is planning to launch its first incubator “M-Hub” to support startups while also establishing itself as the tech hub of the country.
