From Safe Security To STAN— Indian Startups Raised $104 Mn This Week

Between July 28 and August 2, Indian startups raised $103.7 Mn across 14 deals, a 23% decline from the $134.4 Mn raised by 22 startups in the preceding week.

Enterprise tech continued to be the most funded startup sector with two startups raising $73.4 Mn this week

AI sector saw the highest number of three deals materialise this week, with Metaforms, Drizz and Vahan.ai, together raising $11.7 Mn this week

Key Startup Funding Highlights Of The Week

Enterprise tech continued to be the most funded startup sector this week. Two enterprise tech startups, Safe Security and Sharpsell.ai, raised $73.4 Mn, up marginally from the $72.1 Mn raised by five startups last week.
The artificial intelligence sector saw the highest three funding deals materialise this week. Three startups in the sector, Metaforms, Drizz and Vahan.ai, together raised $11.7 Mn.
Five startups at the seed stage raised $6.3 Mn this week, a sizable 66% decline from $18.1 Mn raised by startups at this stage last week.

Startup Fund Updates Of The Week

Neo Group’s VC arm Neo Asset Management marked the first close of its INR 2,000 Cr secondaries PE fund at INR 750 Cr.
Angel investment firm Inflection Point Ventures launched a new $110 Mn category I angel fund registered under GIFT City’s IFSCA framework. The firm will invest in early-stage startups with an average investment of $100K to $1 Mn.
VC firm W Health Ventures launched its second fund, Fund II, with a target corpus of $70 Mn to invest $3-5 Mn in 8 to 10 healthtech startups over the next four years.

Startup M&As This Week

D2C dairy brand Desi Farms bought larger and older company Suruchi Dairy for INR 130 Cr, Inc42 has learnt. While Desi Farms acquired a 51% stake in Suruchi Dairy in June, it will acquire the remaining 49% stake in August.
In a bid to diversify its offerings, listed SaaS company Zaggle will be acquiring fintech startup Rio.Money for INR 22 Cr.
AI startup Vaha.ai acquired upskilling platform GoodWorker (L.earn) to build a full-stack career ecosystem for India’s blue-collar workers.

Other Developments Of The Week

Eyewear major Lenskart filed its IPO papers with the SEBI to raise up to INR 2,150 Cr via fresh issue of shares. The offering will also comprise an offer for sale (OFS) of up to 13.2 Cr shares by existing investors.
Fintech major Jio Financial Services will be raising a whopping $1.8 Bn via private placement of convertible warrants to members of its promoter group.
D2C mattress startup The Sleep Company is eyeing the raise of INR 105 Cr in its Series D funding round led by Saffron Investments.
Inc42 has learnt that Tenacity Ventures joined the cap table of customer engagement platform Exotel via a secondary transaction.
Spacetech startup Digantra is in advanced talks with Reliance Industries, Peak XV and others to raise $50 Mn. The startup plans on building a constellation of 12–13 surveillance satellites by the end of 2026.
AI companion platform Mello, which is currently in stealth mode, will be raising $2.5 Mn from Peak XV Partners and DeVC.
