Tech major Wipro has committed $200 Mn to its venture arm, Wipro Ventures, to accelerate investments in early to mid-stage startups.

In an exchange filing on February 26, the company said that this would be the fourth round of funding for its venture arm since its inception in 2015.

Founded in 2015, Wipro Ventures identifies and backs “high-potential early-stage startups” that can help the company deliver differentiated value to its clients. Wipro said that its venture arm has backed 37 startups operating in sectors like artificial intelligence, data and analytics, cybersecurity and cloud infrastructure to date.

Besides, it claims to have invested in several early-stage, enterprise-focused and cybersecurity-themed venture funds in India, the US and Israel. Its portfolio includes names like Tuskira, Tradeshift, Vectra, NetSpring, Kibsi, among others. The VC arm last backed D2C startup Let’s Try through its arm, Wipro Consumer Care – Ventures, in July.

“This latest investment reaffirms our commitment to helping startups grow faster, innovate, and collaborate with the IT services industry to support large enterprises. We envision a collaborative ecosystem where these emerging technologies can be deployed globally, drive progress, and create sustainable value for all stakeholders involved,” Wipro CEO and managing director Srini Pallia said.

The company’s bid to expand its AI investment portfolio comes at a time when it is aggressively positioning itself as an AI-driven IT service provider. It is also actively increasing its in-house AI investments, and recently announced that it is training 50,000 employees in AI certifications.

The development comes at a time when the funding trends in the Indian startup ecosystem is in a state of continuous flux.

After raising $12 Bn in 2024, startup funding has remained muted in 2025 so far. After seeing a total investment of over $1.2 Bn in the month of January, startup funding in the first three weeks of February stood at about $550 Mn.
